I Have, Who Has Confession

Linking up with Holly!

I have a confession...

Yesterday was the first time I have EVER tried an 'I have, who has' game. I know, I know. I can see the mortification on your face through your screen.

I will say that I LOVED it and so did my students. Absolutely will try it again. We are still in the middle of figurative language and my kids are loving idioms so I used Mr. Hughes' set of cards. It was so much fun! I loved that his cards came in different sizes.

I am finished confessing and absolutely hooked to 'I have, who has' games. Please leave me some suggestions of some good ones. Happy Tuesday!

Task Cards!

I think I am the last person on earth to try task cards and I am kicking myself for not jumping on these amazing little cards sooner! So my Tried it Tuesday is TASK CARDS!!
As you know (if you have been following my classroom) we are doing figurative language. I am using these babies!

My kiddos love them. I love them. There is just a lot of love going around. The best part...my kids are learning with them! I love that these cards are an actual paragraph where the kids need to comprehend to understand the figurative language that is going on.

Awesome I tell you. AWESOME!

So now I have jumped on the task card wagon. Have a great day!

Onomatopoeia, DVD White Boards, Reading Responses, Classroom Library

Onomatopoeia Ideas!

Fun art onomatopoeia idea from Ms. Crouse. The kids create their onomatopoeia using a batman clip, colored paper and newspaper.

Such a great idea to use in place of whiteboards. Store the glove inside. I wonder if small expo markers would fit as well? Hmmm...going to look into this one.

Have you ever heard of Wonderopolis? Well now you have :) Upper Grade Are Awesome just introduced me to this site and I can't wait to try it out with this freebie!

Amazing post on how to run and keep your classroom library in shape. I need to do this!

Hyperbole Popsicles

Linking up with Holly for Tried it Tuesday!

When I did student teaching (a long time ago) I was in an upper grade classroom where the teacher used Hyperbole Popsicles to introduce hyperboles. She had the CUTEST popsicle patterns of all sizes and shapes and she gave me copies but that was over 8 years ago (has it really been that long!) and I have no clue where they are now. Here is the link for the popsicles I made a while ago. They are simple but effective :)

Here is our Hyperbole page in our Figurative Language books. This is mine because my students didn't quite finish. I will post pictures when they are completed.
Normally the popsicles usually have an actual popsicle stick but since I decided to put these in our books this year I went with paper instead. I will update this post with a picture of a student's page tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday!
