MMI: Calendar Math, Chore Chart and Monthly Calendar

When I was in college a few years ago (okay not really, but it seems like only a few years ago) I did some student teaching in a classroom that used a Calendar Math system and it rocked! I know everywhere across the blogging world people use Calendar Math and I did too when I taught elementary. Now that I am going back to my beloved 4th grade I will be using Calendar Math again. I am super lucky because the room I have has a smaller white board on one side wall that I am going to dedicate to my Calendar Math spiral review!

This week I made my signs for the board! I LOVE how they turned out!

The next couple things for this week aren't school related, but I made them nonetheless :)

I have an awesome four year old and we made a chore chart for her. It is the best ever! Things get accomplished more quickly now and with less complaining.

I made all the little chore circles, cut them out and stuck them to the back of an adhesive magnetic sheet. Then I put laminate over the top.

Cut each one out!

I used my new favorite Sharpie Paint markers to write on the sheet of metal. The pink color actually pops out but you can't see it in the pic :(

And here is the finished result. The Sharpie Paint is the best! My daughter can just slide the chores right on over!

Next...

Each month I make a 12x12 calendar to put on our fridge. This is our family calendar where everything gets written down for the month.
Here is July without anything written in it yet. Once a month is over I slip it into our scrapbook. I've been doing this for a while now and it is fun to go back and see what we were doing day-by-day. Sometimes I write down funny things that happened or the temperature if it got really hot/cold that day. Random interesting stuff.

Head on over and link up with Tara! Happy Monday!

  6. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your family calendar idea!!! I'm thinking that might be a fun thing to have at school as well! We could end each day with a quick discussion about what should go on the calendar for the day. That could be loads of fun and extremely cool to have at the end of the year when we tend to do memory books! I am loving this idea!!! THANK YOU for sharing!!!!
